It's not sarcasm or satire -- people are actually mad about a CGI candy used in advertisements.
Maybe because she's purple, and in addition to the existing characters they're close to having a full rainbow.
Maybe because her introduction was a song about wanting to be herself.
Either way, that's more M&Ms for the rest of us.
